HOW TO GET TO PERHENTIAN ISLAND

From Kuala Lumpur:
You can fly directly from the KLIA to a nearby airport in Kota Bharu or Kuala Terengganu. (See from Kota Bharu/Kuala Terengganu)

There are also express buses from Hentian Putra that go directly to Jerteh, which is only 10 minutes away from Kuala Besut jetty.

Night train leaves at 2115?? hours from KL Sentral straight to Wakaf Bharu train station, 10 minutes away from Kota Bharu. You can also take a taxi from the train station straight to Kuala Besut jetty.

From Singapore:
You can fly to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and get a connecting flight either to Kota Bharu or Kuala Terengganu airport. (See from Kota Bharu/Kuala Terengganu)
There are also express buses, which travel directly from Lavender Street to Jerteh, a small town 10 minutes away from Kuala Besut jetty.
Senandung Malam?? express train leaves from Tanjung Pagar railway station at 2015?? hours every night directly to Wakaf Bharu railway station nearby Kota Bharu. (See from Kota Bharu/Kuala Terengganu)

From Thailand:
Thai Airways offers direct flights from Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui to Narathiwat or Haadyai Airport. From there you can catch a minibus (every few hours) to take you to the Malaysia/Thailand border, either Pengkalan Kubur or Sungai Kolok.

You can also catch the express train from Bangkok that stop in a few major towns along the way down to Sungai Kolok. Once you've crossed the border, you can either catch a taxi to go directly to Kuala Besut jetty or take a taxi to Kota Bharu. (See from Kota Bharu/Kuala Terengganu)

From Kota Bharu/Kuala Terengganu:
The most convenient way is to take a taxi from the taxi station or have one arranged by your guest house/hotel to Kuala Besut jetty. Kuala Besut jetty is about one hour drive from Kota Bharu and about two hours drive from Kuala Terengganu.

From Kuala Besut jetty:
In Kuala Besut, you'll find many reliable boat service agencies. You can use any of them. Boats leave for Perhentian Islands every few hours starting from 0900 hours and the last one at 1600 hours.

The fastest way to get to the island is to go by speedboat, taking only 30 minutes to get to the island and priced at RM 60.00 return ticket. There are also slow boats, which take about one and a half hours to get to the island and priced at RM40.00 return ticket.
