PADI IDC - Preparation Course

Lets get started today!

Your preparation is the ultimate key in being successful and to getting the most out of your PADI IDC. Following these few easy steps will ensure you are not missing anything.

1. Administrative and paperwork

Proper administrative and paperwork will ensure your IDC application goes through smoothly without any delay.

Please make sure you have…

  • Downloaded and faxed or mailed us your completed Instructor application form

  • At least 4 passport photos

  • All your PADI certification cards

  • If you are crossing over from another training agency, please provide photocopies of all your diver and leadership level certification cards or certificates

  • Medical Statement signed and dated by a physician stating that you are physically fit for diving, valid within the last 12 months

  • Logbook documenting more than 60 logged dives to attend IDC, and 100 logged dives to attend IE

2. Enroll in our 2-day IDC preparatory program – it’s free!

IDC PreparationPrior to your IDC program, we offer a 2-day complimentary PADI IDC preparatory program. This valuable program is designed to help you refresh your dive theory and sharpen your demonstration quality and rescue skills. This is a great way to prepare yourself for the upcoming PADI IDC program and get you into the learning mode. This program gives you the opportunity to meet with other candidates, your PADI Course Director and PADI IDC Staff Instructor even before your PADI IDC begins. You will also have the chance to familiarize yourself to our Instructor training center and the local diving environment.

3. Dive theory (Physics, Physiology, RDP, Equipment and Skills & Environment)

The 60 questions dive theory exam in the PADI IE is based on what you have learned during your Divemaster course, there is no surprise and there is nothing new. What you need to do is just to review them again to make sure that you are not forgetting anything.
So, please…

  • Practice answering questions using PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook

  • Review dive theory using Divemaster section in your Instructor Manual

  • Review details using PADI Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving – if needed

  • Answer all dive theory questions of the Divemaster final exam at least two times

  • Answer all dive theory questions of the study tools section in your Instructor candidate workbook

  • Be very familiar with using the RDP Wheel and Table – especially in finding minimum surface interval time

  • Ask other Instructors if you need assistance

4. Demonstration quality skills

PADI IDC PreparationNaturally as an Instructor your demonstration quality skills must be up to standard so that it will be easy for your student divers to copy and learn. Whenever you have the chance, please practice all the skills from the Open Water Diver course.

Remember to practice performing it correctly, slowly and to exaggerate your movements to show details of skills.

Whenever possible, assist an Instructor conducting PADI courses as many times as you can!

5. PADI System and Standards

Understanding the PADI System and Standards is one of the major parts of your PADI IDC.

Make sure you…

  • Obtain the most up-to-date PADI Instructor Manual and Instructor candidate workbook early – this can be arranged through us

  • Complete all 16 Knowledge Reviews in the Independent study section of your Instructor candidate workbook – this is a requirement prior to starting your PADI IDC

  • Do not try to memorize every single PADI Standard in the Instructor manual, it is impossible! Instead, be familiar with your manual so that you know where to find them.

6. Your scuba equipment and learning materials

You do not want your PADI IDC to be interrupted by having improper or broken equipment.

Be sure that all your scuba equipment is in good working condition
You also need to have snorkel, dive knife and underwater compass

Have adequate exposure protection for water temperature between 28 and 30 degree Celsius

On top of the required PADI IDC materials, you will need to have:

RDP Wheel
RDP Table
eRDP
Calculator
